Is Raw Food Appropriate for Weight Loss?

It is widely believed that a very good diet for weight loss is raw foods. The kind of raw foods that aids loss of weight is the vegan diet. Incase you don’t know, vegan is anybody who does not eat any animal products. Vegan diet has all the nutrients that the body needs. That is why vegans look fit and healthy.

Raw food diet does not mean you should eat 100% percent raw food. Rather, it should be at least 75% raw. Some people even eat raw meat. They argue that when you cook your meat, you reduce or destroy certain nutrients in it. They also believe that raw meat increases your energy level and it aids your digestion. If this is true, then, raw meat reduces your chances of having any heart disease and helps you lose your weight fast.

It is believed that by eating raw foods, you reduce the levels of certain kinds of fats which are not beneficial to your body.  But there are some kinds of fats that are beneficial to your body for proper functioning. If you cut down these beneficial kinds of fats, then your body has to make up for it elsewhere. If not, you may be cutting down your muscles instead of fats. Similar situation may occur if you drastically cut down your intake of carbohydrate.

Raw foods diet would be very easy for a vegetarian. But it may be too difficult for a non-vegetarian or someone who is crazy about meat. If a non-vegetarian attempts it, it may increase his drive for cooked meat. Instead, non-vegetarians advised to go for a diet that allows them to eat whatever they want to eat in a controlled manner. That way, you don’t have to avoid any kind of food, you only need to learn how to eat them in such a way that your weight loss would still be on course.

Conclusively, the raw food diet is not suitable for everyone. Although, it may help you achieve weight loss by cutting down your fat intake.  Some people see it as a low-fat diet. However effective as it may be, it is certainly not suitable for “meat freaks”.
