Weight Loss- Cutting down Food Potions

 Eight easy tips to help you cut down the quantity of food you eat have been given below.
1.     Clean out the kitchen shelves. You will not be able to cut down your food intake if your kitchen shelves are filled with food items. Snacks like potato crisps, chocolates, biscuits and cakes are tempting. You face the temptation each time you open the shelves. So, remove all the junk foods from your shelves.

2.     Don’t eat directly from a box. Stop or avoid the habit of eating directly from a box, a bag or a container. When you do that, you won’t be able to keep track of the quantity of food you eat. You may end up eating more than double of what you intended to eat. Instead, always put it in a bowl or in a plate, no matter how small.

3.     Eat breakfast. Stop skipping breakfasts. Instead of saving you some calories, it does the opposite because it increases your drive to eat much more than your usual portion. This is because it would reduce your energy level. Is it not better to eat normal quantity of breakfast and normal quantity of lunch than skipping breakfast and eating more than twice your normal quantity of lunch?

4.     Eat smaller meals more often a day. Small quantity of food eaten 5 to 6 times a day is better than large quantity eaten just 3 times a day. Eating 6 times a day would ensure that your blood level would never drop at any time. Then, you won’t feel hungry at any time. Your metabolic activities would be increased and more calories and fat would be burnt in a shorter period of time.  

5.     Focus on your meal. Concentrate on your food when you are eating because you may overeat unconsciously if your mind is somewhere else. For this same reason, it is not advisable to watch the television while you are eating. You should eat all your meal from a plate and also learn to put just the quantity you plan to eat in the plate. It would reduce the possibility of overeating.

6.     Eat slowly. Learn to eat slowly. Always finish swallowing one mouthful before taking another. Never eat in a hurry. You could also take some water in between.

7.     Don’t over eat. Do not wait until you feel completely full before you stop eating. When you are full, it takes about 20 minutes after reaching your peak before your brain gets the message. So if you wait till the brain gets the message that you are full before you stop eating, it is likely that you have eaten a lot of excess and when the brain finally receives the message fully, you will become very uncomfortable. It would also give you additional calories. 

8.     Water, water, water! Make it a habit to take at least 8 glasses of water a day. Water aids weight loss a lot. If you are in a hot area or your day is very hectic or you are overweight, then you need more than 8 glasses of water. Water can never be too much, so don’t be afraid of drinking too much water.
