Common Foods That Can Help You Lose Weight

Although, it is true that the best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more, eating the right kinds of food could give you a better result.

Generally, slimming down consists of three things: loss of weight, good shape and general health. If these three are not put into consideration, your weight loss is incomplete. This is why some people successfully shed their weight but remain unhealthy. Some seem to have a wonderful shape but are still overweight. You should note that muscles have much more weight than fats.

It has been established that you have to burn 3,500 calories to shed just one pound of weight. If you divide 3,500 by 7 days, it’ll give you 500. Do you understand the mathematics? To shed 1 pound of weight in one week (7 days), you have to burn at least 500 calories everyday. It is a little more than that. You have to eat everyday, isn’t it? If you burn 500 calories and still eat, then you have taken in some calories. So you have to burn more than 500 calories to handle the calories you add through food.

A lot of people take the term “diet” or “dieting” to mean “Little of eating” or “eat little”. Diet actually means the kinds of food you eat. A healthy or good diet means eating the right kinds of food that would be most beneficial to your body and maintain your good health.

Yes, it is true that you cam eat more to lose weight. However, it has to be the right kinds of food, not just anything. If you eat just anything, then you are likely to blow up.
Theses beneficial kinds of foods are collectively known as negative calorie foods.
Let us consider broccoli, for example. Every 100grams of broccoli contains about 25 calories. The body burns about 80 calories to digest that quantity because of its high fiber base. That means 100 grams of broccoli gives you 25 calories and takes back 80 calories. Now, do you understand? For every 100 grams of broccoli, you are likely to shed about 55 (80 – 25 = 55) calories.

For people who don’t like broccoli, natural fruits and vegetables are very close substitutes since they also have high fiber content. High fiber content makes the body work hard to digest. Some of the fruits that have high fiber content are peaches, apples, honeydew melons, pineapple, oranges, raspberries and strawberries. These are just some of the eat-more-to-lose-weight kind of foods. There are many more. The more you eat any of the food items the more you shed weight.
